Roghaye Nadia Ahmadi

Nadia is from northwest Iran. She earned a B.A. in English Language Translation and an M.A. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.  She is pursuing an M.S. in Technical Communication. At Missouri S&T, she is a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Technical Communication. She also works as a Graduate Coach at the Writing and Communication Center, where she helps graduate students with editing, technical writing, and document preparation, and runs speaking practice sessions for students whose English is a second or foreign language. Her current research focuses on clarity, readability, and the use of plain language in public health documents. Nadia also volunteers as a multilingual communicator with Tarjimly, providing on-demand translation and interpretation services. In her free time, Nadia enjoys fishing, cooking, and hiking.

Lilian Abirika

Lilian, from Nigeria, has a background in Mass Communication and several years of experience as a multimedia journalist. Her professional work spans communications, with skills in storytelling, writing, and internal and external communications across multiple platforms. She is also a graduate student of English and Technical Communication at Missouri S&T, where she also serves as a research assistant. Outside of her academic and professional roles, Lilian enjoys music and never misses karaoke and game nights, which she describes as therapeutic.

Desmond Asiamah

Desmond is a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of English and Technical Communication at Missouri S&T. He is pursuing an M.S. in Technical Communication, focusing on effective digital and cross-cultural communication. Desmond earned his B.A. in Communication Design with a concentration in Advertising and Media Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana. At KNUST, he conducted research on branding strategies and innovative ways to rebrand traditional African textiles such as Kente for international markets. He is the founder of Afriktextile, a company dedicated to sustainable fashion and promoting African cultural heritage. Desmond has led projects that combine research, creativity, and community engagement. His academic interests include design research, digital storytelling, and strategic communication. He is passionate about mentoring students and fostering inclusive learning environments. Desmond’s work reflects a commitment to ethical leadership, cultural preservation, and innovation. He aims to continue bridging practical experience with research to make a meaningful impact in both academia and the global creative industry.

Frederick Attoh

Frederick is a graduate student at Missouri University of Science and Technology, where he is pursuing a Master of Science in Technical Communication. He also serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Technical Communication. Frederick’s academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with Geography and Resource Development from the University of Ghana. Frederick brings a diverse professional background which includes property management, business development, sales, and marketing, including serving as a Business Development Executive at Sinetheta Engineering Group Limited (Tema, Ghana) and a Marketing Executive at M&C Group (Ghana). His work is driven by a strong interest in applying communication skills in professional contexts, especially where clarity and strategy play a key role in building relationships and driving results. Looking ahead, his career aspirations are to combine the skills he acquires from Technical Communication with his background in marketing and sales to build a career in industry. He looks forward to both contributing to and learning from this program as he continues to develop as a technical communicator and professional.

Bahar Gholinejad Pirbazari

Bahar is from Iran, where she earned her BA in English Translation and her MA in Linguistics. She began her career as a translator in humanitarian work, but her passion for education soon led her to teaching English as a foreign language. After 15 years of teaching in Iran, she decided to pursue another graduate degree, this time in her favorite field, Education. In 2023, she completed her MEd in Higher Education Administration at UMKC and joined Missouri S&T as an academic advisor for the Computer Science and Computer Engineering departments. Working on a STEM-focused campus, combined with her background in linguistics, inspired her to pursue a degree in Technical Communication. Now, alongside her TA role and research, she is developing her skills across various areas of technical communication.

Belinda Dede Nhyira Sackey

Nhyira brings a unique and tenacious perspective to the Technical Communication program. Hailing from Ghana, she holds a BA in History from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Her professional experience as a Human Resources Supervisor in the mining and construction sectors provided a practical foundation in precise documentation and clear communication. Currently, as a Graduate Teaching Assistant while pursuing her MS, Nhyira is applying and expanding these skills. She is gaining direct experience in instructional design and the principles of user-centered documentation by teaching technical writing to computer science and engineering students. This role, combined with her background in corporate HR and her community management internship at Walgreens Boots Alliance, fuels her ambition to become an engineering communicator who effectively bridges the gap between complex technical projects and diverse audiences.
