Life as a new student can be tough. Life as a new student in a new country can be even tougher. These resources will help you adjust to campus and life as a Miner.

Writing Center – Offers the free assistance of writing tutors who can help you as you draft a wide range of writing assignments, from lab reports to historical papers to graduate theses. Located in 113 Campus Support.

Office of International and Cultural Affairs – Provides support, services, advising and learning opportunities to international students, students studying abroad, the campus community, and international scholars and guests. As an international student, this office can help you obtain information related to SEVIS and medical insurance. 

Student Financial Assistance – Provides information regarding financial aid, scholarships and grant opportunities, and provides financial advising and assistance in order for you to enroll and maintain your enrollment at Missouri S&T.

Speech Communication Center – Provides communication skills assessment to the campuses new graduate teaching assistants. Each semester, the center also provides the SPEAK test for graduate students who are non-native speakers of English. 

Curtis Laws Wilson Library – Students, faculty and staff can check out research materials, books and laptops from the library. Students can also access electronic resources and use computers in the library. The library also provides separate rooms for group or individual studies on the third floor. The library is open from 7:30 a.m. to midnight, Monday-Friday, and 8 a.m. to midnight, Saturday and Sunday, excluding holidays. 

Applied Language Institute – Assists academic and non-academic internationals in attaining the English proficiency level. Faculty from the institute help students to improve on their written and spoken English and assist in meeting the language requirements of the university, which help them to succeed in their academic programs. The institute offers a substitute to students who have not taken their Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or have not met their English proficiency requirements.

Disability Support Services – Supports students with permanent or temporary disabling conditions that may have special needs.
