IN THE WORDS OF ...
Pooja Tickoo
Graduate Student in Technical Communication
“I grew up in one of the 28 states of India, where children from most of the
families pursue their careers either in Engineering or Medical fields. I also
took courses in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in high school as well as in my
Bachelor of Science. After graduating in Science, I pursued further study in
English Literature because I was always interested in English as a subject.
“I entered K.C. College of Management Studies to earn a degree in the field
of Mass Communication-Advertising and Public Relations so that I would be
prepared to re-enter the workforce with additional skills. I earned a post
graduate diploma, specializing in Public Relations in 2003. I was very much
thrilled that I had been able to earn two years of work experience in the
Public Relations field even before completing my study.
“In 2004, I had an opportunity to work with the world's largest chemical
company ‘BASF.’ I joined BASF as a Marketing Communication Executive for the
textile division, one of the major divisions of the company. I really enjoyed
working with BASF and worked there until July 2005, when I came to the United
States along with my husband.
“Presently, I am a graduate teaching assistant at Missouri University of
Science and Technology and pursuing a Master of Science in Technical
Communication. I hope to obtain a focused education in the field of Technical
Communication with the guidance and help of my advisor, professors, faculties,
and my classmates.”
