STC Chapter Sponsors Alumni Panel
On October 7, 2014, the Missouri S&T student chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) hosted an alumni panel. Two of our recent graduates -- Misty Adams and Elizabeth "Libby" Richardson -- talked about their jobs and the profession of technical communication.

Tech Com Students Attend STC Regional Conference
In April 2012, Missouri S&T Technical Communication majors attended the 8th Annual Workshop for Teachers of Technical Writing and the 10th Annual STC Student Conference at Missouri State University in Springfield. The students who attended the conference were Misty Adams, Shristy Bashyal, Subhashini Gamagedara, Andrew Herbert, Melissa Hollingshead, Razmus Kerwin, Shubhangi Vajpayee, and Kenneth Wampler.

Department Sponsors Junior Robotics Team
In Fall 2011, the department sponsored a FIRST LEGO League team consisting of Rolla Middle School and Junior High students. Called Global Dreamers, the team participated in the 2011 Food Factor Challenge and received the Judges' Award for most remarkable new team. In addition to building robots, team members did research, conducted interviews, gave oral presentations, and created video introductions, PowerPoint slides, and a tri-panel exhibit explaining their proposed solution to the problem of food spoilage. The project involved as much technical communication as robot building and programming.
