Currently, our department does not offer any online courses through Missouri S&T’s Distance and Continuing Education (DCE) department.  However, the technical communication program is working with the DCE on an undergraduate certificate in technical writing and may start offering online (video-based) sections of ENGL/TCH COM 65 and ENGL 160 as early as spring 2009.

Some of our courses are designed for independent study and are offered through the Center for Distance and Independent Study (CDIS). These are different from courses offered through the DCE in that they are not video-based. They involve independent study from prescribed textbooks and submitting assignments to the instructor for evaluation online or through mail or fax.

Currently, three of our courses are offered through CDIS:

ENGL 115 Practical Grammar
ENGL 160 Technical Writing
ENGL 305 History and Structure of the English Language
